Tylonn J. Sawyer: My work deals with the intersection of individual and collective identity, politics and pop culture. Pulling from archival images in my studio and on my hard drive, I used digital manipulation to comment on a series of issues surrounding law enforcement in America. I‘m presenting hybrid digital collages of Derek Chauvin, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng (The four officers facing charges for the murder of George Floyd). 3 images showing officers in various situations, while on duty and 3 figures with scared backs. I am presenting these framed, family photo style to complement the presentation of Tony’s Family Matter series.
