As one of the region’s premier portrait artists and muralists, Sydney G. James has made an indelible impression on Detroit’s physical and cultural landscape. Joining James is curator Juana Williams, Associate Curator of African-American Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts, for a discussion around James’ exhibition. Girl Raised in Detroit considers community and family bonds in a spatial context.
