MOCAD invites youth ages 13-18 to submit work that can be displayed for an exhibition titled SELFish.
SELFish: An adjective meant to emphasize the self-idealization or implied self-image within a particular piece of art; the deeper message that encompasses a piece of art as impressed/implied by its creator. “SELFish” relates to a piece of art that is inspired by a message an artist intends to express about their self, perspective of the world, or other personal intent.
We welcome submissions of work that asks what a self-portrait is and how youth convey ourselves in our art in unconventional ways. People considering submitting should offer works that ask:
How is your art shaped by your experiences and surroundings
How does your culture, your point of view, and your upbringing change how you view the world, and how is that conveyed through your artwork?
Through these visions of self, we are looking for artwork to pose questions on how young artists see themselves in the present so that we can better shape our future.
This call is open to ALL forms of artwork, including but not limited to 2D, 3D, photography, and video. Please complete this form to submit artwork. You must be signed into a Google account.
