Celebrate 18 incredible years of MOCAD at our Annual Art + Auction Gala! This year’s surrealist ball promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating the art, creativity, and partnerships that have shaped our museum.

All proceeds benefit MOCAD’s exhibitions and programs, enriching our community for years to come. Don’t miss this extraordinary celebration!

Event Highlights

  • EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITIES to meet and mingle with current and upcoming exhibiting artists

The evening begins at 5:30 PM with a sponsor-exclusive cocktail hour, followed by champagne, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 PM. Explore our art auction pieces and enjoy captivating performances starting at 7:00 PM. A seated dinner will follow at 7:30 PM, with special remarks and the presentation of honorees beginning at 8:00 PM. We look forward to celebrating with you!

OLAYAMI DABLS is celebrated for his transformative impact on Detroit’s cultural landscape, using art as a powerful tool for storytelling and building connections. With a profound understanding of African heritage, Dabls has created spaces that reclaim cultural narratives and bring people together through shared histories. His work transcends traditional boundaries, blending art with activism, education, and public engagement—all of which align with MOCAD’s mission to nurture social change and inclusivity. Dabls’ visionary approach and commitment to cultural autonomy have made a lasting imprint on the city and its people.

LINDA POWERS is distinguished by her unwavering commitment to contemporary art and her visionary approach to design. Her passion for fostering creativity has significantly shaped MOCAD’s unique identity as a dynamic, inclusive space. Through her leadership and dedication, she has played a crucial role in advancing MOCAD’s mission to inspire social change and artistic engagement. Linda’s ability to blend artistic innovation with strategic support has been instrumental in creating new opportunities for the museum and expanding its influence within Detroit’s vibrant cultural landscape.

OMARI RUSH engages the arts with both passion and professionalism. As the Executive Director of CultureSource in Detroit, his influence extends beyond local borders. He has completed a gubernatorial appointment as Chair of the State of Michigan Arts and Culture Council and an elected term as Chair of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. Currently, Omari serves as a board member of the national Lewis Prize for Music and SeaChange Capital Partners, further contributing to the arts on a national scale. His leadership and dedication resonate with MOCAD’s commitment to fostering cultural growth and artistic engagement.

Art Auction


Online bidding for our art auction is now open through Monday, October 28 at 12pm EST. This year’s art auction, hosted exclusively on Artsy, features artists from around the world. 

Over the years, funds raised from MOCAD’s Art Auction have helped the Museum provide over 1,000 public programs, serve 100,000 visitors, and highlight over 650 artists through innovative exhibitions. Artists featured at MOCAD include some of the most important visual and performing artists of our time. 

Join us at the gala for exclusive artworks, culture, and community. Art auction sponsorship is available, and includes logo placement and recognition online and in-person.
