THE LISTENING ARCHIVE

The Listening Archive is a sound and oral history music project that documents musicians and composers across musical genres and generations, discussing what they think about and listen for when they listen to music. Founded in 2009 by information artist and architect Laura Foxman, The Listening Archive has been realized in collaboration with filmmakers and sound recorders from Detroit, and across the country. Participants include Leon Fleisher, Jon Hendricks, Lenny Kaye, Missy Mazzoli, Stephin Merritt, Suni Paz, Dave Portner (Animal Collective, Avey Tare), and Pete Seeger among numerous others.
