As an integral partner in the vibrancy and energy of Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood, The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) is one of the city’s most exciting, unique, and adaptable settings. Designed by Albert Kahn and Ernest Willoughby Associates in 1907 for the Standard Auto Company, our 22,000 square foot historic venue has been simply restored to retain its singular character and urbane feel.
The versatility of the space, in conjunction with our rotating world-class exhibitions, makes the Museum the perfect setting for any occasion:
- Meetings + Presentations
- Automotive Premieres + Product Launches
- Galas + Receptions
- Weddings + Commitment ceremonies
- Bar + Bat Mitzvahs
Our events planning team is committed from initial contact until the last guest leaves, providing the best service and the highest standards of execution. They have cultivated relationships with top caterers and other professionals around the region to ensure the absolute success of your function. Our preferred vendors are fully licensed, insured, and carefully trained in the policies and procedures of the Museum.
We provide a full range of services including:
- Bar Service (Provided by Café 78)
- Coat Check
- Event Planning + Coordination
- Limited Onsite Parking Available
- Set-up + Installation
- Valet Parking
The Museum’s rental fees are based on the specific timing, utilization, and space requirements. As part of our commitment to the community MOCAD offers a discounted rate for non-profit rentals. We also offer free rentals to donors of $25,000 and above.*
MOCAD is a registered 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization. Given that admission is free to all visitors, event rentals provide an essential source of revenue for our institution. This income supports the ongoing work of the museum, including exhibition development, education, research, and operations.
MOCAD has wheelchair-accessible entrances and rest rooms.
