MOCAD is closed on New Year’s Day, Juneteenth, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
MOCAD’s hours are occasionally impacted by special events – please check our homepage and social media before your visit.
Admission
MOCAD suggests a donation of $10 for entry to its exhibitions during normal operating hours. This donation is on a sliding scale or “pay what you can” model allowing the public to support the Museum. Members, seniors, students, and children under the age of 12 always receive free admission. Admission into public programs and other special events may vary. MOCAD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Parking + Directions
Parking at MOCAD is free for our visitors! Our parking lot is located off of Garfield Street. We recommend taking John R to Garfield. If you are traveling from I-75 northbound take the exit at Mack Ave. to John R north. If you are traveling southbound on I-75, take the Warren exit west to John R south. Visitors traveling from the M-10 Lodge Freeway take the Forest Ave. exit east to John R south.
Public Transportation
QLINE
The QLINE travels on Woodward Ave. between Congress (Downtown) and Grand Blvd (North End/New Center) with 12 total stops along the route. A one-way trip takes approximately 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. More information on the QLINE is available on the Qline website.
BUS
The 04 Bus, which runs on Woodward Avenue between the Rosa Parks Transit Center downtown and the State Fairgrounds Transit Center on 8 Mile Rd., stops on Canfield (one block south of MOCAD) and on Forest (one block north of MOCAD). Transfers to the 04 bus are available at the Rosa Parks Transit Center and the State Fairgrounds Transit Center. More information on Detroit Public Transportation is available on the DDOT website.
BIKE
Bike racks are conveniently located next to the entrance to MOCAD.
