Whose Water with Halima Afi Cassells, Shanna Merola, Kate Levy, and Michael Stone Richards
Friday, December 16, 6pm
MOCAD Café

A special hybrid screening and artist talk activates the work of Halima Afi Cassells and Shanna Merola’s Swan Song as a platform for discussion about water rights and access. After a viewing of Kate Levy’s Whose Water, guest Michael Stone Richards, Professor of Critical Theory and Visual Studies at the College for Creative Studies, will moderate the conversation between Levy, Cassells, and Merola. The three will discuss their essay “Externalize, Extract, Co-opt, Repeat,” from Detroit Research 3: On Sound, and its relationship to Swan Song, on view in Mike Kelley’s Mobile Homestead.
