BOTH SESSIONS PRESENTED AT
MIKE KELLEY’S MOBILE HOMESTEAD

This summer, MOCAD is partnering with Design Core Detroit to present a workshop series hosted by exhibiting Brood artist and City of Design Challenge recipient, Mother Cyborg. Mother Cyborg is a Detroit-based musician, technologist, community organizer, and educator who believes that we can harness technology with compassion to create collective liberation.

The workshops take inspiration from traditional quilting bees, community gatherings where practitioners exchange ideas and techniques. In Mother Cyborg’s Quilting Bee, participants will be given supplies and training on hand-stitching while discussing solutions to big tech issues such as data criminalization. These ideas will then get embedded into a community quilt, the result of the workshop.

All ages and skill levels are welcome to reserve a spot for one or both sessions. This event will be outdoors with seating and tables under open-sided tents. Cool beverages and snacks will be provided.
