|On Friday, September 21, 2012, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit will host MOCAD Seven, the institution’s major fundraiser for 2012.
The evening will begin with select Classic Cocktails followed by an imaginative dinner prepared by James Beard award-winning-chef Alex Young of Zingerman’s Roadhouse. Chef Alex will present a live cooking demonstration and speak about the Roadhouse’s food philosophy and cuisine.
As part of the event, MOCAD is proud to host the Detroit premiere of selected scenes from the Mobile Homestead films by one of the most important artists of our time, Detroit native Mike Kelley. The films, which include Mobile Homestead Christening Ceremony and Launch, September 25, 2010, Going West on Michigan Avenue from Downtown Detroit to Westland, Going East on Michigan Avenue from Westland to Downtown Detroit, recently debuted at the 2012 Whitney Biennial, document the Mobile Homestead project as it migrated down Michigan Avenue from Detroit to the suburbs and back. In September, construction of the next phase in Kelley’s Mobile Homestead will be in full swing on MOCAD’s very own grounds.
The evening also features a live performance by Shara Worden, singer and songwriter of My Brightest Diamond, and an auction of art and incredible gifts.
